11. The Length of the Neck and the Adverse Musculoskeletal Changes

The length of the neck is determined by the curvature of the neck spine (cervical spine), the upper and middle back spine, and by the curvature of the lower back spine. The bigger the curvature of the neck spine, middle and upper back spine and lower back spine, the shorter the neck is.

  1. The straighter the neck spine is, the bigger the length of neck is.

  1. Increase in the curvature of the cervical spine results in a decrease in the length of neck.

Side Note: A curvature of the cervical spine (neck spine) always refers to an inward curvature.

The curvature of the neck spine (cervical spine) is determined by the activity level (intensity and time) of the neck muscles. Prolonged inactivity of the neck muscles will cause an increased curvature of the cervical spine. (Insufficient or the absence of upwards lifting activity of the neck muscles for a prolonged period of time is the cause for a decrease of the neck’s length.)

Adverse musculoskeletal changes, like excessive inward curvature of the cervical spine and excessive outward curvature of the upper back spine are correlated with aging, but a great percentage of the population is affected in the early stage of life, and some of them are affected in early childhood.

1)      People can be affected with excessive curvature of the neck spine, but still they may not be obese.

2)      People can be affected with an excessive curvature of the middle and upper back spine, but still they may not be obese.

3)      People can be affected with an excessive curvature of the lower back spine, but still they may not be obese.

  1. People who are affected with an excessive curvature of the lumbar, thoracic and cervical spine are all affected mainly with excessive weight in the upper part of the body.

  1. People who are affected with excessive curvatures of the lumbar, thoracic, cervical spine and with an excessively forward rolled pelvis in a standing position have an enlarged upper body, and an enlarged hips and buttocks.

Side Note: With a simple observation, it can be noticed that all obese people are affected with an excessive inward curvature of the lower back (lumbar spine), and with an excessive outward curvature of the upper back spine (thoracic spine), and with an excessive inward curvature of the neck spine (cervical spine).

12. The Reason and Science behind Putting Rings (brass coils) around the Neck

The exact reasons why people tried to elongate the neck and why they came to the idea of putting rings around the neck are still left for discovery.

However, the reason for wearing rings around the neck is not just to appear beautiful. It is very likely to prevent some of the adverse musculoskeletal changes in such a way that it causes an unnatural elongation of the neck, and they prevent other more serious adverse musculoskeletal changes.

Side notes:

Many adverse conditions attributed to aging can be prevented by preventing adverse musculoskeletal changes. Wearing rings around the neck is an unnatural method that produces unnatural consequences.

The only ways to prevent and also to reverse adverse musculoskeletal changes are postural and motor skill exercises, as well as certain leisure and occupational physical activities that positively affect motor skill and posture.

Although the exact reasons for wearing rings or brass coils around the neck have been lost in time, and what makes it even more complicated to understand is the fact that the Kayan women wear coils also around their knees, ankles and wrists, the custom of putting rings or brass coils around the neck should be considered as an ancient weight loss surgery that is a non-invasive surgery, it is absolutely effective in preventing excessive weight gain, and at the same time it is absolutely effective in controlling the body shape.

The fact that all women who practice the custom of putting a series of brass rings around the neck have a lean body shape and that they have body shapes similar to each other, tells us that manipulating musculoskeletal changes is a highly effective method to manipulate the weight and shape of the body.

Please Note! Any possible suggestions to wear rings around the neck in order to prevent or treat adverse musculoskeletal changes, or to prevent, treat or cure obesity should be regarded as insanity.

13. The Reason and Science behind Weight Loss Surgeries (Bariatric Surgeries)

In the case of weight loss surgery, it is clear why people came to the idea to reduce body weight. Namely, people came to the idea to reduce the weight of the body because they rightly think that excessive body mass is not something normal, it is directly or indirectly related to many negative health conditions.

Side Note: If we take a look at the women and men who lost weight after undergoing WLS, it will be obvious that the more weight they lose, the longer their necks appears compared to the length of their neck before weight loss.

The question; why did they come to the idea of surgical intervention to treat obesity?  It is hard to answer not because it is a mystery, but because it is obvious why they came to such an idea. George Bernard Shaw once said: “No question is so difficult to answer as that to which the answer is obvious.” Well, on the question why people came to the idea to put something in the stomach (lap band surgery), and why they come to the idea to amputate part of the stomach in order to treat obesity the answer is obvious, namely; they come to those ideas of surgical intervention to treat obesity because they didn’t know that some amount of energy in food intake will be excreted as metabolic waste. Namely, they didn’t know that stool contains calories.

Side note: The irony is that the majority of people will find it impossible to believe that surgical intervention for weight loss is invented because the medical professionals didn’t know that human excrement contains calories.

Analysing some other examples, it is not surprising that people are reluctant to confront with this blunder in medical science. The example of children abused by paedophile clergymen show that many devoted followers couldn’t believe that something like that could happen. Some of them could confront with the fact that child abuse could have happened by a few bad clergymen, but they couldn’t comprehend that the responsible religious authority tried to cover and hide from their followers, even if their actions will put many children in danger of being abused.

Such action has caused outrage from the rest of society, mostly from those who don’t belong to those religions whose priest have abused children.

In the case of the blunder for which surgical intervention for weight loss is based, and the fact that many established scientists tried to hide that from the public, there is no outrage from the public. The health correspondents and the media in general ignored this fact and it is very likely that the majority of them are still not aware that the basic science of weight gain and weight loss is created by scientists who didn’t know that some amount of food intake will be excreted as metabolic waste. It is very likely that the fear from undesirable health conditions and premature death is what leads people not wanting to hear that something is wrong with medical science. They are hungry to hear news about new breakthroughs in medical science, they don’t’ like to hear that something is wrong because it will make them more afraid from undesirable health conditions and premature death.

George Bernard Shaw said: “We have not lost faith, but we have transferred it from God to the medical profession.” I think it would be better if he said: We have not lost faith; but we have transferred it from religious professionals to medical professionals. I don’t find anything wrong with people who believe in God, and there is nothing wrong with people who believe in science. The problem is when people who mistake trust in God with trust in religious professionals, and with people who mistake trust in science with trust in established medical scientists and/or trust in reputable scientific institutions.

Child abuse was done by a small number of clergymen and the majority of clergymen are shocked and deeply sorry for the victims but still, they don’t find it useful to expose those clergymen who abused children because it would damage the reputation of their religious institution and in their opinion, that could produce a much bigger tragedy than a child being sexually abused from a paedophile clergymen, namely it could make some people leave the religion, and in their belief that would result in a terrible afterlife. In their opinion, being in hell forever is far more terrible than being abused by paedophile clergymen. In my opinion, that must be the reason that for religious officials, the reputation of their religious institution was more important than the prevention of sexual abuse of children by paedophile priests.

For many people, the reputation of medical scientific institutions is far more important than people suffering from obesity and the suffering brought by medical treatments based on pseudoscience. Exposing the pseudoscience and the treatment based on pseudoscience may damage the reputation of established scientists and may lead people to mistrust future progress in medical science. I suppose in their opinion, the reward of inevitable progress in medical science will be so beneficial for people that exposing a pseudoscience may delay future progress of medical science.

The fact that needs to be confronted with is that the basic biology is polluted with pseudo theories. Children all over the world in their biology class are learning theories of anabolism and catabolism, Krebs Cycle, etc. and it is very hard to tell children that those theories are wrong. Namely, the theories of anabolism and catabolism are created because scientists didn’t know that human body excrete calories. The anabolism and catabolism theories are a basis for any approach to weight management and still they are regarded as unquestionable science.

  1. The belief that every single calorie that enters the human body if not spent will be stored as fat mass is responsible for the anabolism and catabolism theories.

  1. The anabolism/catabolism theory is a pseudoscience that leads people to the idea of Weight Loss Surgeries.

The science, or better to say, the pseudoscience of weight management started with counting calories followed by the anabolism/catabolism theories, was founded when the problem of obesity was unknown. At that time, the problem of being underweight among children was far bigger than being overweight, and among children obesity was non-existent. The inability to confront with this pseudoscience has resulted in unsuccessful attempts to combat obesity, and has created the epidermis of eating disorders.

14. Similarity and Differences between Weight Loss Surgeries and Putting the Rings (brass coils) around the Neck

Putting rings around the neck started a long time before people encountered the problem of obesity, but on the example of people who practice the Asian custom of wearing rings around the neck it can help to understand the mechanism of weight loss induced by surgical intervention for weight loss.

Weight loss surgery involves putting the band around the stomach (lap band WLS), or putting the staples in the stomach and at the same time, amputating part of the stomach (gastric bay pass WLS). In the end, all known weight loss surgeries involves an invasive method of putting some object in the stomach alone (lap band) or combined with amputating part of the stomach (gastric bypass WLS).

The purpose of WLS is to restrict the amount of food intake.

The purpose of putting rings around the neck is to grow a long neck.

Both bariatric surgery and putting rings around the neck have a latent effect on the body weight and shape. Only the method of putting rings around the neck is absolutely effective in preventing weight gain, and WLS is not so effective.

Putting rings around the neck involves the non-invasive method of altering the normal size of the neck over a period of time. A person has to wear rings around the neck for a considerable amount of time in order to elongate his neck.

Performing WLS involves an invasive method of altering the digestive organs, and it is done immediately by surgery like putting some object around the digestive organ called the stomach, or by amputating the part of the stomach etc. the effect of the surgery is achieved immediately.

In reality, WLS induces a similar effect as putting rings around the neck. An extensive explanation is in the article; The Underlining Mechanism of Weight Loss Induced by Bariatric Surgery (Weight Loss Surgery) in Part 1, Chapter 11.

In the case of Lap Band Weight Loss Surgeries, the patient has to wear a thing (lap band, staples, etc.) put in his stomach for a considerable amount of time in order to lose excessive weight, or at least to lose some percentage of excessive body weight.

Actually, after certain weight loss surgeries [removal of a portion of the stomach - (sleeve gastrectomy or biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch) or by resecting and re-routing the small intestines to a small stomach pouch (gastric bypass surgery)], patients don’t have any other option than to endure the presence of some object (staples, etc.) in his abdominal cavity for the rest of his/her life.

a)      Putting rings around the neck is reversible.

b)      Putting the lap band around the digestive organ called the stomach (lap-band surgery) is reversible by additional invasive surgery.

c)      Amputating part of the stomach is irreversible.
